Biography

L. E. Hopwood has a debut novel, a dystopian YA, called Shifters involving solar flares and genetic mutations that focuses on social constructs and their inherent injustices. Hopwood is the author of sixteen nonfiction works and has an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing from SNHU. Born on a farm in the rural Midwest, L. E. Hopwood eagerly took opportunities to travel the world. With a degree in Maritime Archaeology, Hopwood is also an avid scuba diver who loves to recount stories of shipwreck excavations in far-off seas.

Hopwood’s vision and mission as an author is to elucidate the experience of disillusionment and the ability to survive this uniquely human trial. It’s a mission so important to Hopwood that it has become the author’s brand. The inner struggle with negative emotions, stigmas, and societal pressures—and how one overcomes and perseveres in the face of them—has become especially important to this author. Speculative fiction is unequaled in its ability to allow one to explore such abstract concepts, and Hopwood takes this opportunity in stride, particularly focusing on the struggles of women and teenagers by choosing strong, young female protagonists.
